Consultations with the Indian Government Contact Organization

On December 9, 2019, consultations were held in Delhi with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), which serves as the Indian government contact organization for the Technical Intern Training Program (TITP). The consultations included a meeting focused on the India Research Visits Program for private-sector organizations (which will include participation in a seminar in Delhi as well as a business-matching event) that JITCO is currently planning with collaboration from NSDC, as well as an exchange of views regarding matters of concern to the Indian government relating to the sending of technical intern trainees, etc. In particular, there was a presentation regarding the efforts being made to allay the concerns that many Indian sending organizations have regarding the raising and loaning of candidates’ advance training fees, efforts which include securing support from Oil India Limited (a state-owned enterprise) and from local government authorities.
Following these consultations, the JITCO delegation visited six sending organizations in Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Kanpur, which are all candidate destinations for the India Research Visits Program, to verify each organization’s state of readiness for sending technical intern trainees (including candidate recruitment, the state of Japanese language training and technical training, the overall state of the facilities, etc.). In addition, the JITCO delegation traveled to Imphal in northeastern India, a region which is widely held to have significant cultural affinity with Japan, where the delegation engaged in consultations with Manipur State government and visited nursing colleges that are prime candidates for supplying technical intern trainees in the care sector. It is anticipated that more detailed information about the visits to candidate destinations will be provided in a separate announcement.
JITCO is reviewing the results obtained in these inspection visits, and is planning an India Research Visits Program for those interested in receiving technical intern trainees from India. More information will be made available once the details have been finalized.
