Consultations with India's Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE)
On June 27, 2017, regular consultations were held with India’s Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Directorate General of Training (DGT).
Both parties affirmed that in order for India to send technical intern trainees (supervising organization type), it is necessary to prepare a sending program, including related laws and regulations, and to conduct activities to educate the Japanese side about Indian people and Indian culture. JITCO expressed its intention to continue supporting the realization of these steps. India, meanwhile, announced that it will prepare its sending program soon and will cooperate with the Embassy of India in Japan as well to facilitate publicity activities.
In India, under Prime Minister Modi’s “Make in India” policy, the importance of developing the country’s human resources has grown. With this, interest in sending technical intern trainees to Japan has increased, and at the end of November 2015 MSDE-DGT and JITCO signed the Record of Discussions (R/D) reflecting the content of the 2010 revisions to the Immigration Control Act. In accordance with this, MSDE accredited five new sending organizations, each of which is making preparations to realize the sending of technical intern trainees.
