Farewell Party for Technical Intern Trainees Returning Home:Expressing Their Feelings in Song

February 2012
Kanuma Kikai Kinzoku Kogyo Cooperative

On January 15, a farewell party was held for the 8th-term Vietnamese technical intern trainees who will soon be returning to their home country. The party kicked off with a karaoke contest pitting technical intern trainees from each company against one another. The judges were Japanese - although they did not understand the Vietnamese language, the feelings expressed in the songs came across as clear as day in voices so beautiful they surprised everyone listening. There were some who sang off key, but songs are about feelings, after all. The songs the trainees dedicated to their parting colleagues were filled with feelings that went far beyond the actual words. For the contest prizes, we thought about what supplies the technical intern trainees needed and chose things like rice, oranges, Vietnamese soy sauce, and Kanuma city-designated garbage bags.
In the farewell party that followed, the returning technical intern trainees were presented with certificates of completion, commemorative gifts, essay booklets, message cards, and lots of encouraging words.
The 40 Vietnamese technical intern trainees at the Kanuma Kikai Kinzoku Kogyo Cooperative are very earnest and received high marks from the training organization. In addition, each of them has a solid awareness, and when it comes to the Japanese language, 14 of them took the Japanese Language Proficiency Test last December (N2, N3, N4).
As is customary, the farewell party ended with a dance! The stage was filled with people, as the company president, technical intern trainees, and staff all joined together to dance, dance, dance.!
