Annual Meeting with Thai officials

On August 3, 2005, JITCO delegation visited Director Mr. Chuthatawat Indrasukhsri of Department of Employment (DOE), Ministry of Labour, Thailand to mainly discuss on strengthening the functionality for sending trainees from Thailand.

  1. JITCO reported that the number of trainees dispatched annually from Thailand remains around 300 and DOE must strengthen the functionality of sending organizations to send more trainees.


  2. DOE responded that it will gather the sending organizations to provide necessary instructions and will consider on canceling an organization's certification if the organization is judged to have insufficient capacity. Also, it reported that currently, there is an issue of lack in skilled labor force in Thailand and in such situation, the trainees and technical interns who have returned from Japan are largely contributing to business community.

In the afternoon of the date of the discussion, a seminar was held for sending organizations and about 30 members from 17 certified organizations participated. In the seminar, JITCO explained the roles of sending organization, preparation and pre-dispatch education and contracts between sending/accepting organizations and held QA session and information exchange afterwards. From sending organizations, questions and requests on requirements for reinstatement of a worker, information on accepting organizations and visa application process to Embassy of Japan were presented.
