On May 20, 2010, JITCO officials held an annual meeting with the representatives of the Laotian Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (MLS). JITCO gave explanation about the outline of the new system, and there were some questions from MLS concerning cost burden, etc.
Courtesy call was made on the minister after the meeting with MLS. JITCO reported on the new system and the acceptance situation from Laos. The minister stated that now agriculture is mainly sent, but have thoughts to expand the type of occupation and increase the number of sending. The minister also stated that both Japan and Laos need to be more cooperative for further development of the system.
On the following day, the seminar for sending organizations was held. Under the cooperation between MLS, 49 guests from 20 organizations participated the seminar, including the accredited sending organizations. JITCO gave explanation about the outline of the new system, and there were some questions from sending organizations and MLS concerning cost burden, the measure to prevent abscondence, etc.
