On March 8, 2010, JITCO officials visited the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration (MOM&T) and held an annual meeting with Masri Hasyar, Director General of Training and Productivity Development.
JITCO provided an overview of the revised training program and asked for strong cooperation from sending organizations in the following areas: prohibiting the collection of deposit, providing advance lectures, and signing employment contract prior to technical intern trainees' arrival in Japan. JITCO also requested that both JITCO and MOM&T sign a new Record of Discussions (R/D) with the revision of the training program as confirmation of a continuing cooperative relationship. MOM&T agreed.
MOM&T expressed its intention to thoroughly implement the new changes over sending organizations, including the discontinuation of deposit. MOM&T asked JITCO for support in genuine and proper operation of both sending and accepting organizations.
On the following day, JITCO organized an information seminar for the new training program, attended by 36 sending organizations and related officials. JITCO explained the new status of residence "Technical Intern Training", relevance of Japanese labor laws, and the prohibition of deposit. In the Q&A session, sending organizations asked questions on the implementation of advance lectures, prohibition of deposit, and the contents on labor contracts.
