On September 10, 2007, JITCO officials visited Bangladesh's Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment (MEWOE), and held an annual meeting with Secretary in Charge Md. Abdul Matin Chowdhury and other MEWOE officials.
MEWOE mentioned that the number of Bangladeshi trainees in Japan hasn't increased since the organization sent 12 trainees in May 2006, and requested that seminars for accepting organizations be held in Japan through the Bangladeshi Embassy in Tokyo, and that JITCO provide direct assistance to coordinate sending and accepting organizations.
JITCO reported that nine out of twelve trainees sent form a MEWOE-certified organization returned home prematurely. The trainees' unfortunate discontinuation was due to their lack of knowledge about the training program, and also a lack of supervision by the sending organization. JITCO re-explained the points to consider, such as recruitment and selection processes, pre-arrival training, and application procedures, and requested that MEWOE focus on narrowing the expectation gap between sending and accepting organizations, as well as on strictly ensuring the provision of training progress monitoring. Through discussion, it was agreed that both MEWOE and JITCO would increase the number of contacts and strengthen the relationship between sending and accepting organizations.
