On February 28, 2011, officials from JITCO visited the contact of the Bangladesh government, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment (MEWOE), and held a periodic meeting with officials including the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Zafar Ahmed Khan.
MEWOE stated that in 2010, three organizations were newly added to the list of accredited sending organizations and that there are plans to increase the number of accredited sending organizations in the future. Furthermore, MEWOE reported that a selection committee for the sending of technical intern trainees was established within MEWOE, and this committee is headed by Deputy Secretary Begum Shamsun Nahar.
JITCO stated that out of the 15 countries to conclude a record of discussion (R/D), Bangladesh is the newest country, and with three private sending organizations now accredited in addition to BMET, there is still a need to share more knowledge about the Technical Intern Trainee Program, which leads to the explanation at this meeting.
After the meeting, JITCO officials paid respects to Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain. Minister Hossain stated that the Bangladesh government has multiple research facilities within the country and sends talented personnel around the world, and he expressed a desire to stimulate sending trainees from their populous and talented country to Japan.
